All quiet on the western front.

It’s funny how in the presence of the Full Spanish media that was located on the groin adjacent the runway on the western side; the two Guardia Civil vessels were sat in its own waters protecting a very forlorn fishing boat.

Gibraltar marine assets were doing pretty much the same. What a picture it paints, reminiscent of some kind of aquatic Mexican standoff.

Politically all seems quiet too, Margallo summoned to London and no doubt once pleasantries have been exchanged, the two politicians can get down do agreeing to disagree and once they emerge from that office, both will have very different stories to tell.

Locally all seem quiet too, especially for the GSD from which we have not heard a peep. If the GSD believes it can maintain some kind of moral high ground in its silence, then the wheels of street politics will revolve, spinning out of control.

My view is still for some kind of agreement to be reached, that allows for the Spanish to fish in our waters using legal methods and with strict quotas and only for a third of the year.

Compromise of any sort will leave either party with a bad taste in their mouth, but coexistence relies on compromise. With Spanish National pride at stake, I would find it very hard to believe that there will be any backing down of any sort, and if this is the case then we must be stoic in the face of a country that is not known for finesse.

Hoping for a status quo, our friends in La Linea prepare for their fair as if nothing has happened. Locally we will go to the fair as if nothing has happened, a return to normality until the next time.
