What is it about the female breast, which makes most men incapable to carry a conversation without their eyes taking a stroll if any flesh is exposed below the neckline?
In evolutionary terms breasts, the female variety are a food delivery system and a highly efficient one at that. All mammals have mammary glands hence the collective genus for all animals that nurse their young with milk.
The World Health Organisation cites breast-feeding as beneficial for infants in the first six months to a year without the addition of baby formula or solids, giving your child the best start in life insofar as antibodies and a food source of great nutritional value.
Breast-feeding is if anything one of the most natural of things and I was shocked to learn that there is such a thing as a lactation expert last week when talking to a work colleagues wife last week who is heavy with child.
Human infants, as do all other mammals have a sucking reflex, lets face it, we suck. A child when born and placed on their mothers chest will appear to move towards the breast in the hope of latching on to the mobile milk dispenser, why the hell would you need a lactation expert.
It seems that there are many women having problems getting an infant to latch on and start sucking. Even with my limited knowledge of the subject I found this hard to swallow as all mothers, baring those with blocked nipples or a medical condition should be able to breast feed.
So why is it that breast feeding is not popular with todays women, some will say because it hurts, now I am no doctor with degree nor am I an expert on boobs, but don’t you find it strange that a woman can endure the pain of an object the size of a melon passing through her lady bits sometimes with the dire consequents of total destruction and still repeat the process one or several more times but then balk at painful nipples.
I think the reason that many women forgo breast feeding is due to how inconvenient having a very small human hanging off your nipple all hours of the day and night, women are very busy nowadays and its better to whip up some baby formula and feed them what the baby formula corporations tell you is the best thing for your little bundle of joy.
The Global baby formula business is worth £100 Billion and of course they will say baby formula is best and spread lies, like there is not enough iron in breast milk. I would not listen to anything that makes that obscene amount of money whose only competitor is a totally free source of milk for your child.
In the less developed parts of the world breast feeding is all that there is available and mothers will not bat an eyelid at breast feeding or the fact that your breasts start hanging around your navel.
I am not going to tell you to breast feed or not, I believe in free will and choice and what is good for you, especially not being a woman I am not equipped with the necessary mechanisms to breast feed, I will however say I was breast feed and if you saw me you would see that I turned out just fine.
Give your child the breast start in life, don’t give in to todays pressures of time use that time to bond and nurture your offspring, just don’t do it for too long or it will start looking weird.
