Queue? What Queue?
I really do not understand what all the fuss is about in regards to the frontier queues. Its not like any of this is new to us. Even with the PSOE Government in charge we still had queues.
But I suppose its one of the more evident manifestations of Spain’s P.P. Party’s powerlessness over the people of Gibraltar, like a child throwing it’s toys out of the pram. I am not anti Spain or even anti Spanish, I am however anti politician.
As certain as a new couch will be farted on, Spanish Politicians especially the older Franco and post Franco era politicians will quickly turn their nationalistic eye to the thorn in their side.
Take the Spanish Foreign Secretary Snr Jose Garcia Margallo. His rants and jibes about Gibraltar are laughable, but we must not lose focus on what this man’s ultimate goal is, a Spanish Gibraltar.
He knows that this will not happen at least in his lifetime and it has become an obsession for him as it has in the past for many of his now dead colleagues.
For a country that is riddled with debt and unemployment the Politicians in power are doing what Germany was doing in the 1930s, it is creating a nationalistic fervour to draw the Spanish peoples eyes away from the real issues under the rallying cries of “Gibraltar Español”.
So what can we do? In reality we cannot do anything, Madrid will play its games until the UK grows a pair of big furry ones and tells Spain that the Gibraltar issue is not up for discussion or the Spanish economy implodes and the people grab hold of power.
