Dec 08 - Artist Karl Ullger Makes Ocean Views Donation Following Sale Of Painting
The artist Karl Ullger is donating half of the proceeds from the sale of one of his works to the new Ocean Views mental health facility.
The painting is a depiction of the Ocean Views building on a metal canvas. The Government bought the work earlier this year and intends to display it in Ocean Views.
Mr Ullger handed over a cheque for £2,000 to the Chief Minister Fabian Picardo and the Minister for Health Dr John Cortes at Number Six Convent Place earlier this afternoon.
Mr Ullger said: “I felt it was only right to give something back. It would be really good if the money could go towards furniture to improve the patients’ quality of life. It will be an honour to see the new Ocean Views with the painting displayed there.”
The Chief Minister said: “The view that Karl has painted is a view that a lot of people in Gibraltar will now have of this fantastic facility. We agreed that it would be quite something to have this first depiction of Ocean Views in Ocean Views itself and done on metal which means it will be as long-lasting as the facility.”
