Mar 01 – Mosaic Clubhouse “Very Impressed” With Progress Made By Clubhouse Gibraltar

A team from Mosaic Clubhouse visited Clubhouse Gibraltar on a post-training site visit. The main purpose was to monitor the progress made by Clubhouse Gibraltar on the issues identified in their training action plan completed on Colleague Training in November 2014. The participants on this training were Kevin Fowler (Staff), Erica Asquez (member) and Sebastian Rodriguez (Trustee).

The visiting team from Mosaic Clubhouse consisted of Lee Elliott, the Employment, Information & Training Coordinator and Christiane (Mosaic member) who said they were impressed that, despite the challenges currently presented by the building works, Clubhouse Gibraltar is doing a sterling job of pulling its whole Clubhouse community together in the important task of running the Clubhouse.

They said that Clubhouse Gibraltar, “despite the challenges with the building, had managed to convey a clear sense of dignity and optimism; unit work is displayed in a way that is accessible, attractive, and professional. The Clubhouse work ordered day has made important strides in generating plenty of opportunities for members to get involved. In recounting their stories, members anchor their recovery journeys in the sense of community and strong social networks facilitated by the Clubhouse, together with the clear feeling of being valued, needed and respected.  Clubhouse Gibraltar’s members, staff and trustees are to be applauded for their determined achievements in laying the foundations of a very strong Clubhouse ahead of their move to a very well-deserved larger building.”

They also observed that the whole Clubhouse Gibraltar community demonstrated an impressive understanding and commitment to the Clubhouse Model which was clearly demonstrated by the way they expressed their Clubhouse experience.

They said they were also pleased that Clubhouse Gibraltar is recording their data which can be used to demonstrate the value of Clubhouse in supporting recovery.

This input will help Clubhouse Gibraltar to start the process of the International Clubhouse Accreditation which is hoped will happen once they are established in the new premises.

Whilst in Gibraltar, the opportunity was also used to have a full day’s training where the Mosaic Clubhouse team were able to share its knowledge  and experience of the Recovery Star with Clubhouse Gibraltar in order to help promote the recovery journey of the members in Gibraltar.

Clubhouse Gibraltar says it would to like to take this opportunity to say thank you to Kusuma Trust, without whose ongoing support the training and on site visit would not have taken place.
