Mar 09 - Marriage Care Gibraltar Is Seeking New Volunteer Counsellors
Marriage Care Gibraltar is recruiting local qualified counsellors to volunteer as relationship counsellors for couples on the Rock.
Bridie Collins, Director of Relationship Support Services at Marriage Care will be in Gibraltar on the today and tomorrow to help the new recruits.
The new volunteers will be trained in counselling couples using an attachment and Emotionally Focused Therapy approach over 18 months, which includes four residential weekends.
In return for their time and commitment, Marriage Care offers the chance to: attend CPD events and supervision, be part of a national and local charity as well as support our local community.
The next BACP endorsed Certificate in Relationship Counselling course will start in April 2015. The training costs us around £4000 per person, we ask for a contribution towards this of only £800 and a long term commitment of volunteering with Marriage Care.
A spokesperson for the charity said: “We also welcome trained couples counsellors and supervisors with experience of working with couples who are interested in volunteering with us as well as other more varied roles.”
Marriage Care is a faith based national charity providing over 9000 relationship counselling sessions each year from 100 locations in England, Wales and Gibraltar. It specialises in helping couples – married or not – build and sustain strong, fulfilling, healthy relationships, and in providing support in times of relationship difficulty.
Sessions are provided on a donation basis to enable all to access our service.
The relationship counsellors, trainers and supervisors volunteer their time and commitment and in return Marriage Care provides CPD training, supervision, travel expenses, and insurance. More importantly they are part of a community of like-minded people supporting their local communities.
