Jun 08 - Bishop Fitzgerald School Donates £2,500 To Action 4 Schools

Bishop Fitzgerald School has donated £2,500 to the Action 4 Schools charity. The money was raised from ticket sales for a school production in April and will go towards the construction of a new water well at St Anthony's school in Brookfields, Sierra Leone.

At an assembly this morning at the school, the charity’s Chairman, Jimmy Bruzon, spoke about the conditions of extreme poverty that many people in Sierra Leone endure.

“We take it for granted that everyone in the world has access to clean, safe water…that we just turn on the tap and it comes out,” he said.

Mr Bruzon said that six out of ten people in Sierra Leone were illiterate and the average wage was only 70p per day.
