Jul 11 - Family Funday For Autism Awareness – Speaking To Mrs Gibraltar Contestant Lesley Chadwick

A fun-packed “Super Family Funday” to raise awareness of autism will be held this evening at Casemates.

Activities start at 5.30pm and include a Zumba session, a raffle, face painting, bouncy castles and Gibraltar’s very own “World’s Strongest Boy” Leon de Roeck.

The event will raise money for the Little Smiles charity and Autism Support Gibraltar.

YGTV caught up with Mrs Gibraltar contestant Lesley Chadwick whose charity of choice for the pageant is Little Smiles.

Lesley said: “My son was diagnosed with autism at the age of two so I’ve always worked with that charity. This year, his twin sister has also been diagnosed so I’m really trying to push the boundaries and get it out there and destigmatise the issue. I want to make sure people go out and get help and talk about it.”

Lesley says that the main reason she signed up for the pageant was to promote the charity to raise awareness and get people more involved in charity work and helping children with special needs.

Lesley adds that Gibraltar has a good support network for children with autism but people just need to know how to access it.

“We just need to put it out there and get the awareness up so people can get what they need,” she said.
