Nov 02 - More Than £7,000 Raised For Calpe House Charitable Trust From Deloitte Spinathon

Deloitte 2nd Spinathon makes an impact that matters to the community, encouraging friendly rivalry between local companies and raising £7,200 in aid of The Calpe House Charitable Trust.

On Saturday 15th October Deloitte organised a 12-hour Spinathon and family fun day to raise awareness and collect funds for the Calpe House Charitable Trust.

Deloitte staff kept four bikes going for a total of 12 hours from 8am to 8pm. A special feature of the event was the Corporate Challenge which pitted local companies against each other cycling for an hour each in an attempt to cover the most distance. An Individual Challenge was also available for members of the public who could join the fun by cycling for 15 minute slots.

Almost all Deloitte staff participated, showing great team spirt and raising a total of £7,200. A great deal of effort was put into the organisation of this event principally by Deloitte’s Corporate Social Responsibility committee, (Cassandra Felices, Francesca Russo and Zainya Reyes) leading to an extremely successful day. The event also provided a bunch of activities for the youngsters to enjoy, such as bouncy castle, gladiator arena and face painting. A raffle was held at the end of the day; the winners were as follows:

1st Prize Apple Watch – Robert Marsh
2nd Prize Beats Headphones – Nadia Nuza
3rd Prize the Lounge meal voucher – Rahul Chugani

Individuals who signed up for the Individual Challenge were automatically entered into a raffle for a Fitbit as well as the winner receiving a gift. This year’s Fitbit winner was Alexandra Dellipiani and the winner of the Individual Challenge was Aisha Benyahya (Gibraltar’s 2nd princess).

The corporate element to the event was a well-supported and entertaining challenge, where some teams took it in a fun manner and others were extremely competitive. This year, adding a new twist to the event, Deloitte were the first team to participate in the Corporate Challenge, setting a time and challenged other companies to beat them. Those who succeeded earned a bottle of wine. The overall winners of the Corporate Challenge were; the Royal Gibraltar Police achieving an impressive 40km/hr, joint second were Hassans and William Hill attaining 38.8km/hr and third Blands Group International completing 32.2km/hr. Deloitte would like to thank and congratulate all 20 teams who participated with so much enthusiasm and fun spirit.

We would like to give a special thanks to the organisations who helped us with logistics, entertainment and equipment without whom we could not have held such a successful event.

Deloitte would like to extend its gratitude to all participants who made this day a huge success, and allowed the firm to raise funds for such a worthy cause. We also urge all companies to get training, as the Spinathon and popular Corporate Challenge will be back next year.
