Nov 02 - Local Charity Turns 30

Gibraltar’s Ivanhoe Charity Society celebrated their 30th anniversary with an exhibition that marked decades of support for local causes. The one-day event was attended by Minister Dr John Cortes who praised the charity’s ongoing work, as well as members of the committee and the general public. Cheques were presented to the Cancer Relief Day Centre for £1,100 and to the Calpe House Trust for £1,000.

The charity, named after the hotel where many Gibraltarians were evacuated to during the war, was formed as a registered charity in October 1987.  Its founder, Alfred Medina, has been heavily involved in many events during the years. Alfred set up the charity in order to help registered charites in Gibraltar or elsewhere or for other exclusively charitable purposes.
