Feb 09 – Karim L’Felly Wins Childline Mental Health Competition

Karim L’Felly is the winner of Childline’s Mental Health Awareness Competition.

In order to boost awareness of the different kinds of mental health problems affecting local children, Childline Gibraltar launched a competition in schools to discover the impact that such issues have had on pupils, their friends and families.

Valuable context is provided by the startling fact that last year, one-third of all contacts received by Childline Gibraltar concerned a mental health issue.

Minister Dr John Cortes presented the prizes yesterday evening at the John Mackintosh Hall.

He said that, beyond the political work of establishing committees and formulating policies, it was important to hear from the people who are affected by mental health problems.
