Sep 29 - Breast Cancer Memorial Tree

A memorial tree will be planted to celebrate the lives of all those who have been touched by breast cancer.

Breast Cancer Support Gibraltar have embarked on this project to honour and commemorate the life of Marie Cavilla, who passed away last May. She played a key role as Vice-chairperson in the charity for over many years.

A spokesperson said: “It has been a privilege to have had Marie as a very valued member and we are thankful for her hard work and unconditional dedication.

“We wish to pay tribute to Marie and all who have been touched by breast cancer by planting an Almond Tree which blossoms in pale pink, to celebrate life. The life of those who have left and the lives of those who are still with us now. This will be a symbol of personal growth and hope, also a place for reflection and remembrance.

“The Almond tree will be planted at the Theatre Royal Park and will be unveiled by Minister Cortes on Wednesday 11th October 2017 at 5pm, as October is Breast Cancer awareness month.

“We are forever grateful for the support shown from the Ministry of the Environment. The generosity of Greenarc for donating and maintaining the tree and also Charles Anes for the donation of the plaque.”
