Oct 09 - Essential Services Football Event Raises Over £1,900
The Essential Services 5-a-side charity football tournament, in aid of GBC Open Day, was held in Pitch 2 of the Victoria Stadium on Sunday 30 September. The event was the ‘brainchild’ of PC Kimberly Martinez GDP who also organised the event.
Representatives from the majority of essential services and law-enforcement agencies in Gibraltar took part in this event to raise money for this worthy cause. The different agencies included the Gibraltar Defence Police, HM Customs, City Fire Brigade, Borders & Coastguards, Gibraltar Defence Guard Service, Royal Gibraltar Police, Gibraltar Electricity Authority, HM Prison Service and the Royal Gibraltar Regiment. Additionally, it was great to see members of the public show up at the stadium to show their support for the event.
A total amount of £1,972.11 was raised by the event. Different companies in Gibraltar donated cheques and other resources to help make this event a success. We would like to thank the following companies for their generous donations: 888 Holdings, Bassadone, Eroski, GDP Social Club, Gibraltar Football Association, Gibtelecom, GJBS, Glass House, Morrisons, My Wines, Newton Systems, No1 Models Gibraltar, Pizza Hut, Reshape & Rumble, Roca Graphics, Saccone & Speed, Securitek & Lewis Stagnetto.
An after-event presentation was held and the Gibraltar Defence Police Social Club. Deputy Chief Police Officer, Superintendent Konrad Chrzanowski gave a speech and presented the winners of the tournament with their medals and gifts donated by various companies. Additionally, a raffle was held to help raise funds for this charity event.
Results of the event were as follows:
The Winners were HM Prison Service who beat the Gibraltar Electricity Authority in a hard fought final.
HM Prison Service:
Damian Rodriguez, Dylan Peacock, Dylan Peacock Jnr, Ayman Boulaich, Jordan Perez, Naliim Hughes, Justin Collado, Keith Menez, Victor Lopez and Stephen Belilo
Gibraltar Electricity Authority:

Best Player in the final: Justin Collado - HM Prison Service.

The event was deemed to be a great success; not only was a large amount of money raised for charity but it allowed colleagues from a wide range of essential services areas to come together to further build and bond stronger working relationships which will benefit the wider Gibraltarian community.
Organisers would like to thank everyone involved in the event and everyone who donated to this worthy cause.
