Nov 29 - Moorish Castle Lit Up For Pancreatic Cancer Awareness

On Sunday, the Pancreatic Cancer Awareness Gibraltar Charitable Trust organised the lighting up in purple of the Moorish Castle in support of and as part of the “World Turn it Purple” campaign and in official partnership with ‘Purple Lights UK Organisation’.

A spokesperson from the charity said: “This year the Pancreatic Cancer Awareness Gibraltar are very proud to have arranged for Erin Willett to come over, all the way from New York, to Gibraltar especially for the event. Erin Willett was a semi-finalist on NBC’s hit show “The Voice” and is known for her ‘powerhouse vocals and infectious spirit’
Erin Willett’s new Single, “Hope’s Alive”, was released on April 2018 and is an anthem of empowerment for all those who are battling the disease and those who have passed away from it.”

Willett and fellow songwriters Elizabeth Russo and Tova Litvin will donate 100 percent of proceeds up to $1 million to PanCAN’s efforts.

Willett said in a recent interview:

“The song connects with our experience as caregivers, as family members, as people who might not have personally been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer, but feel that diagnosis just the same. I’m excited to share it with the pancreatic cancer community,”

At ‘Purple Light Gibraltar ‘ Erin sang the anthem of empowerment, “Hope’s Alive” and also a 30 minutes performance. She will also gave a motivational speech together with four other guest speakers, Isobel Ellul (GHA Cancer coordinator), Gemma Vasquez (who lost her father to Pancreatic cancer), Derek Burke (GHA Responsible Officer and Clinical Governance) and Gráinne Mckenna (Cancer Relief Centre Manager).

The event, held at Grand Battery, was very well attended, including her worship the Mayor of Gibraltar, Kaiane Aldorino Lopez, GHA personnel, Cancer Charities & Relief Cancer Centre representatives, sponsors, suffers and their families.
