Dec 04 - Defence Fire Service Supports CAB 'Inspiring Lives, Brick by Brick' Campaign

fire service hose pull The Defence Fire and Rescue Service this morning carried out a charity led, ‘hose pull’ along Main Street. Raising funds on behalf of the Citizens Advice Bureau’s ‘Improving Lives, Brick by Brick’ Campaign, the service deployed and recovered 70mm hoses from outside the ICC, up to the Convent.

All funds collected will be donated to Calpe House and The Gibraltar Community Association. Firefighters carried out the run in full protective equipment and breathing apparatus, collecting funds from passers by as they went along.

Minister for Social Services Samantha Sacramento was at hand this morning to wish the fire fighters well.

As part of the initiative, the Gibraltar Construction Training Centre is also constructing a house frame to donate to CAB. All donations made as part of CAB’s initiative will have a ‘brick’ baring the name of the donor, pinned to the makeshift house. Donations will be collected in Casemates Square on December 8th. Members of the public can also make a donation directly to CAB by contacting Ivan Cruz on 200 40006.

The charities chosen currently provide an invaluable service in supporting ill Gibraltarians both financially, and by affording them a place to stay as they recover or receive treatment in the UK.
