Jun 04 - Red Cross Charity Presentation

The Gibraltar Red Cross have today presented £15,000 to the Saffron Rose 4 Rett charitable trust to help with the purchase of Tobii Eye Gaze technology for the pupils of St Martin’s Special School.

Rett Syndrome is a devastating condition whereby after the age of three, children start to lose all the skills they had previously gained.  They lose the ability to speak, walk and use their hands.

This equipment, which includes special computers and software called “My World” allows children who cannot speak or use their hands to communicate via these devices.  Currently there are nine such children at St Martin’s, and the charity intends to provide each one with this special equipment.

The Red Cross says it is very pleased to be able to contribute to this very worthwhile cause.
