Jun 22 - Mark's Charity 'Walk To The Rock' On Track

Lieutenant Colonel (Rtd) Mark Randall has made a whopping dent in his 2125 km Charity Walk from Cardiff to Gibraltar and has now completed 1725 kms.

Mark set off from Cardiff Castle on the 21st April, shortly after the Royal Gibraltar Regiment had fired a Gun Salute to mark the Queen’s birthday. He is raising money for the Royal Gibraltar Regiment Benevolent Fund and GBC Open Day.

The Regimental Second in Command, Major James Gracia joined Mark for three days when he reached Caceres.

Major Gracia said: “We walked over 100 kms together and passed the ancient roman city of Merida. It has been thoroughly enjoyable, but it has not been easy. The road is very hard on the feet and Colonel Mark is moving quite fast. The cooler weather, including the rain, made the walk a little easier.”

The Royal Gibraltar Regiment will support Mark’s charity effort on Wednesday 25th June, when they will be take part in a Gun Pull along Main Street and carrying out a treadmill walk to simulate Mark’s efforts.

Mark aims to arrive in Gibraltar on the 4th July when he will be met by soldiers in the Regiment who will walk the final stretch through Gibraltar with him.

You can follow Mark’s progress on Facebook at ‘Cardiff to Gibraltar RG Charity Walk 2015’.
