The Government says it notes, “with disappointment”, the European Parliament’s objection, today, to the entry into force of the European Commission’s decision to remove certain jurisdictions, including Gibraltar, from the EU’s list of ‘high-risk’ third-countries with strategic deficiencies as regards anti-money laundering and counter-terrorist financing (“AML/CFT”).

Jun 06 - Sword False Alarm – Large Police Operation

There were nervous scenes in town earlier this afternoon as a large police operation was launched after a man was reportedly seen carrying a sword in the ICC area. However, this proved to be a false alarm and the man, who was in fact only carrying a musical instrument, was later tracked down by the RGP.

After 1:15pm, police deployed to the ICC and Emile Youth Hostel – armed officers, response units and police dogs flooded the area. The Primary Care Center was also reportedly in “lock-down”. The RGP later tweeted a photo of a man they wanted to contact but reassured the public that it was not “security related.”

YGTV understands that the man was located and found to be carrying a musical instrument.
