Feb 22 - Rape Trial - Fourth Day Update
A number of witnesses gave evidence on the fourth day of the Supreme Court trial of the former Post Office CEO who faces two charges of rape.
It is alleged that Christopher Riddell, of Catalan Gardens, walked a woman home after a few drinks in the Seawave in Catalan Bay Village and then proceeded to force her into having sex with him.
The jury heard from evidence from the managers at Michaelangelo’s restaurant and the Seawave, who both said they saw Riddell and the complainant having a few drinks that night. However, they both added that they were just talking and she didn’t appear to have drunk much.
The complainant’s colleague said she hadn’t been quite herself since the alleged incident occurred.
Earlier in the trial, the complainant had said that Riddell had taken an interest in her work, and was taking notes on the night they met.
On the Monday morning following the alleged incident, Riddell rang the complainant’s manager had a meeting with him. It was after Riddell left the meeting that the manager was made aware of the alleged incident, and referred the complainant to the HR department for support and counselling.
The RGP’s forensic doctor also confirmed the complainant’s bruising to her thighs and arms, and marks left on her head, hips and feet as well as a scratch on her chin, and bite marks to her left nipple, but couldn’t confirm whether they could have been caused by the defendant.
The case continues tomorrow.
