Aug 16 - Man Charged With New Harbours Robbery Is Held Under European Arrest Warrant

A 51-year-old Moroccan national, Rachid Behdaoui, was arrested this morning on the strength of a European Warrant of Arrest (EAW). The EAW has been issued by the Kingdom of Spain where Behdaoui is wanted for offences of robbery and kidnapping.

Behdaoui is currently on remand having been unable to meet bail conditions imposed by the Supreme Court after being charged with the robbery at New Harbours last year.

In a bail application hearing before the Supreme Court this morning, Behdaoui, who was seeking to have the conditions of his bail modified has had his bail rescinded by the Court on account of the EAW.

Behdaoui has been remanded in Police custody and will be appearing before the Magistrates’ Court tomorrow in respect of the EAW.
