Oct 26 - RGP Recover More Cannabis Bales This Weekend

Following the successful seizure on Thursday morning of a total of 21 bales of cannabis resin, the RGP Marine Section have this weekend, in two separate incidents, recovered a total of 10 bales of cannabis resin. The drugs had an approximate street value of just under £1.5 million and each bale weighed around 30 kg.

The incidents relate to chases at sea where the crews of suspect rigid hull inflatable boats begun to jettison the cargo and escape out of British Gibraltar Territorial Waters.

Over the past few weeks the RGP has seized a total of 98 bales of cannabis resin and although no arrests have been made, the Commissioner of Police Eddie Yome says he is extremely pleased at the RGP’s efforts in the fight against illegal drug supply.

He said: “Our officers continue to work in an extremely dangerous and hostile environment, where daily their lives are put at risk in an effort to dent the drug supply into Europe and this should never go unnoticed. I am extremely proud of them all.”
