Nov 23 - Lithuanian Detainee Extradited
A 38-year-old Lithuanian national was this weekend extradited from Gibraltar and handed over to the Lithuanian authorities following his arrest in Gibraltar earlier this month on the strength of a European Arrest Warrant issued in Lithuania.
Early on Sunday morning, RGP officers escorted Almantas Mekionis to the RGP post at the land frontier where they transferred him into the custody of Lithuanian officers who had travelled to Gibraltar. Upon completing the official handing over of the detainee the Lithuanian officers left Gibraltar with Mekionis, walking over into Spanish soil where they were met by Spanish Law Enforcement officers for the next stage of their journey.
