Dec 23 - Graffiti Clean Up Underway

The clean up is underway to tackle graffiti spray painted on the external walls of King’s Chapel, No 6 Convent Place and Varyl Begg Estate last night.

The graffiti on the outside of the King’s Chapel was painted over this morning, and painters are currently dealing with the slogans written on the back of No 6 Convent Place, which read "100's out of work, we need jobs not lashish building" and "Judus Picardo. Look after your own kind first. We want jobs".

A spokesman for No 6 said: “The graffiti incident was immediately picked up by OSG security devices and reported to the RGP - a local man was subsequently apprehended.

“GJBS were on site within 25 minutes of the incident. The graffiti is now being removed as police have now given the all clear.

“Our security arrangements worked very well but they are always kept under review.”

The incident is said to have taken place at around 10pm last night, and a 49-year-old local man has been arrested on suspicion of criminal damage.
