Jan 07 - Local Man Charged On Suspicion Of Tobacco-Related Offences, Five Others Arrested

Four local men and two Spanish nationals were arrested in the early hours this morning on suspicion of various tobacco-related offences, following a high-speed car chase and a search carried out in a home in Ocean Heights.

A total of 120,000 cigarettes and a vehicle were seized by the Royal Gibraltar Police.

Five of the men have been released on bail pending further enquiries, however Paul Parody of Willow Lodge, Montague Gardens, was charged with three counts including dangerous driving, obstructing police and the possession of a commercial quantity of cigarettes without a licence.

Parody, 36, will appear before the Magistrates’ Court at 10am tomorrow morning.
