Jan 13 - Fisherman Accused Of Stealing Concrete Block Pleads Not Guilty

The Spanish fisherman accused of stealing a concrete block from British Gibraltar Territorial Waters entered a not guilty plea at the Magistrates’ Court this morning.

Leoncio Fernandez Ramos, of Puente Mayorga in Cadiz, Spain, stood before the Magistrate Charles Pitto. He was charged with one count of theft in relation to an incident which took place in June 2014.

His lawyer Patrick Canessa requested a docket of evidence.

He has been bailed out on the sum of £2,500 – the cost of the concrete block – on his own recognizance until his next court appearance on 20th April.

Speaking to the press after his appearance in court, Fernandez Ramos maintained his innocence, insisting he didn’t do anything.
