Jan 23 - Man Faces Firearm And Drugs Charges Following RGP Operation In Upper Town

A 35 year-old man has been charged with offences under the Firearms & Crimes Acts, following an operation yesterday afternoon that saw CID officers executing a search warrant under the Firearms Act at a flat in Road to the Lines.

Aaron Barrera, of no fixed place of abode, was arrested following an operation which was supported by Firearms Officers, the RGP’s Dog Section and Crime Scene Investigation.

The search resulted in the seizure of a .22 calibre air rifle and controlled “Class C” drugs, namely, 41 x Rivotril tablets and 45 x Alprazolam 50mg and 2mg tablets.

Barrera was processed and interviewed at New Mole House, and was later charged as follows:

1 x count of Possession of a Firearm


3 x counts of Possession of a Controlled Drug.

He will be appearing before the Magistrates’ Court at 1000hrs Monday 25th January.
