Apr 25 – Fabian Picardo To Give Evidence In Major Madrid Trial Tomorrow

Fabian Picardo will tomorrow be called as the chief prosecution witness in the Madrid trial of Trinitario Casanova, the man accused of the market manipulation of Banco Popular shares in 2008.

Mr Picardo, who is appearing in a purely professional capacity as a former partner at Hassans, will give evidence via video link from the firm’s offices in Line Wall Road.

Sñr Casanova is accused of spreading fictitious rumours that a Mexican multi-billionaire – Carlos Slim – was about to make a substantial investment in the bank thereby causing the bank’s shares to rocket.

It is alleged that Sñr Casanova approached Hassans to set up a company in London in order to bolster his claims.
