Jun 14 - Local Man Arrested On Suspicion Of Dangerous Driving And Tobacco-Related Offences

A 22-year-old local man was arrested by Area Response Team officers in the early hours of Saturday morning on suspicion of Dangerous Driving and tobacco-related offences.

The arrest came shortly after the individual drove a locally registered vehicle dangerously along North Mole Road, attempting to interfere with a HM Customs vehicle that was in pursuit of another vehicle.

Following his arrest for Dangerous Driving and Obstructing a Customs Officer, a search of his vehicle resulted in the seizure of two radio transceivers.

The man, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was further arrested on suspicion of keeping two radio transceivers without a licence and for being knowingly concerned in the attempted exportation of cigarettes without a licence.

He was later bailed out to appear at New Mole House at a later date, pending the outcome of the investigation.
