Jul 12 - Algerian Man Rescued From Sea And Charged

A 32-year-old Algerian national, Hassan Kaswat, of No Fixed Abode, has been charged under the Immigration, Asylum and Refugee Act after he was rescued from the sea by a Gibraltar Pilots vessel yesterday afternoon, approximately 500m off Rosia Bay.

Kaswat was detained in custody overnight to appear before the Magistrates’ Court at 1000hrs today where a Detention and Removal Order will be sought.
