Aug 18 - HM Customs Drugs And Tobacco Detections

Yesterday, a Spanish National was arrested by HM Customs Officers after a small vessel was stopped and searched off Rosia Bay. Two concealments containing a total of 35,000 cigarettes were found within the vessel. The defendant was bailed out pending further enquiries and the preparation of the court docket.

In a separate incident, which also took place yesterday, a Spanish National, Francisco Jose Mateos Alarcon was arrested at Four Corners by officers of the Flexible Anti Smuggling Team after five slabs of cannabis resin weighing 493.39g were detected concealed in his underwear. He appeared in court today and has been sentenced to five months imprisonment.
