Aug 19 - Two Men Arrested For Drug-Related Offences

A 49-year-old Spanish national resident in La Linea and a 23-year-old local man have been arrested on suspicion of being knowingly concerned in the importation of a controlled drug.

This follows the interception of a Spanish registered vessel by RGP Marine Section officers yesterday afternoon, approximately 500 meters off Europa Point.

At the time, the vessel was found to be carrying in excess of 1000ltrs of fuel distributed in numerous containers, in addition to other provisions, equipment and clothing.

Both men were later interviewed and bailed out to return to New Mole House at a later date, with the vessel, fuel and other contents seized pending further investigation.
