Nov 10 - Man Arrested Following Devil's Tower Road Car Chase

A 25-year-old local man has been arrested on suspicion of Tobacco-related offences, Obstructing Police and Possession of an Offensive Weapon.

The arrest followed an incident yesterday evening, when uniformed officers challenged the occupants of a UK-registered van in the area of Sir Herbert Miles Road.

During the ensuing pursuit along the eastern side of Gibraltar and Devil’s Tower Road, the vehicle collided into a stationary police vehicle in the area of the sundial, causing extensive damage to both, and resulting in one officer sustaining minor injuries.

Both vehicle occupants fled the scene on foot into nearby residential estates, with one of the occupants pursued on foot and arrested shortly afterwards.

The vehicle contained approximately 25 cases of cigarettes and a stun gun which were seized by officers.

The man is currently on police bail, and enquiries are ongoing.
