Dec 04 - Two Men Charged Following Disturbance At Casemates

Two men have been charged following an incident in the early hours of yesterday at Casemates Square, after uniformed response team officers responded to reports of a person brandishing a knife and behaving in a disorderly manner and acting aggressively towards people in the area.

42-year-old John Joseph Underwood, of Barley Hill House, Prince Edward’s Road, has been charged as follows:

• Three counts of Attempted Wounding with Intent 

• One count of Making Threats to Kill 

• One count of Carrying an Offensive Weapon 

• One count of Assault Occasioning Actual Bodily Harm 

• One count of Affray 


30-year-old Ziade Attou, of Paradise Ramp, has been charged as follows:

• One count of Assault on Police 

• One count of Obstructing Police 

• Two counts of Having an article with a blade or point in a Public Place


Both men remain in police custody and will be appearing before the Magistrates’ Court tomorrow.
