Oct 25 - Two Men Charged With Speeding
Two men have been charged with speeding offences – one man faces 52 counts of speeding while the other man was allegedly recorded doing over 130kph.
On the 13th September, a 21-year-old local man, George Venegas Ronco, was arrested by RGP Traffic Officers on suspicion of traffic related offences. On surrendering to his bail on the 11th October, Venegas Ronco was charged with 52 counts of Speeding.
The offences, which were all captured by fixed speed cameras, were committed between June and August this year with the highest speed recorded exceeding 80kph. Venegas Ronco is currently on court bail.
Another 21-year-old man, local resident Hicham Akalay, was arrested yesterday by Traffic Officers on suspicion of traffic-related offences and later charged with three counts of Speeding. The offences were again recorded on the fixed speed cameras and were allegedly committed during the course of the month of October. The speeds recorded by the cameras all exceed 100kph with the highest recorded speed exceeding 130kph.
Akalay was granted Police bail and is to appear before the Magistrate’s court today.
