Local Man Convicted Of Domestic Abuse Offences

A local man has been sentenced at the Supreme Court to 2 years and 3 months’ imprisonment after being found guilty of controlling or coercive behaviour in a relationship, actual bodily harm, and two counts of common assault following offences between 2022 and 2023.
A statement from the RGP follows below:
36 year old Liam Golt, of Beach View Terraces, appeared before the Supreme Court this week and was sentenced to a total of 2 years and 3 months' imprisonment.
GOLT had appeared before the Magistrates’ Court in March of this year and found Guilty of Controlling or Coercive Behaviour in an Intimate or Family Relationship, Actual Bodily Harm, and two counts of Common Assault.
The offences had occurred between 2022 and 2023, and reported to Police in March 2024, as a result of which an investigation was instigated that led to GOLT being arrested in March 2024 and then charged in May 2024.
The RGP continue to encourage anyone who may be experiencing domestic abuse, or anyone who may be concerned for the safety of another person, to contact the RGP and seek support. Reports will be treated seriously and investigated thoroughly.
