Minister Christian Santos recently presented apprentices and trainees from the Gibraltar Training Centre with their National Vocational Qualifications in Maintenance and Construction, Plumbing, Mechanical Engineering and Electrical Engineering at Levels 2 and 3.

A statement from the Government follows below:

Minister for Equality, Employment, Culture and Tourism, with responsibility for Training, the Hon Christian Santos GMD MP, presented apprentices and trainees from the Gibraltar Training Centre with their National Vocational Qualifications (NVQs) in Maintenance and Construction, Plumbing, Mechanical Engineering and Electrical Engineering at Levels 2 and 3.

The ceremony held at the Mayor’s Parlour was strongly attended by representatives from relevant industries, placement providers, instructors, Training Centre staff and invited guests.

The ceremony highlighted the continued success of vocational education and apprenticeship pathways in Gibraltar and recognised the important role played by local employers and placement providers in offering workplace experience and mentoring opportunities. Their ongoing support enables trainees to develop practical skills within real working environments while working towards nationally recognised qualifications.

Addressing those present, Minister Santos congratulated the award recipients on reaching this important milestone and acknowledged the dedication, commitment and hard work required to complete their qualifications. The Minister also expressed his gratitude to Head of Training, Mr Dylan Podesta, Training Centre Manager, Mr Paul Dobinson, and Internal Quality Assurer, Mr Aurelio Gonzalez, for their hard work and commitment in supporting apprentices and trainees throughout their learning journey.

The Minister said: "Vocational education and apprenticeships play a vital role in developing the skilled workforce Gibraltar needs both now and in the future. These qualifications open doors to rewarding careers while helping to ensure that key industries continue to have access to the talent and expertise they require. I would like to congratulate all of the award recipients and thank the instructors, staff, employers and placement providers whose support has helped make these achievements possible."
