July 01 - Drugs Conviction - Ballester

Thirty-three year old Manuel Ballester was today sentenced in the Magistrates’ Court following his convictions for obstructing police and for possession of a controlled drug, 69 grams of Cannabis Resin and as a result of separate case, for possession of a further 36 grams of Cannabis Resin.

Ballester was sentenced to four weeks imprisonment. A previous suspended sentence for similar offences of four weeks imprisonment was activated and is to be served consecutively, making a total of eight weeks imprisonment.

Ballester of 23/5 Cumberland Road was arrested for possession of the 69 grams of Cannabis Resin in January of 2011. He was arrested on the 27th of June 2012 for possession of the 36 grams of Cannabis Resin.

He had been found not guilty of a charge of possession with intent to supply in relation to the June 2012 matter and two charges of supplying a controlled drug and one of possession with intent to supply in relation to the January 2011 matter were dismissed by the Court.
