Nov 06 - European Arrest Warrant Sees Child Abductor Flown into Gibraltar
36-year-old female, Verena Boege, yesterday arrived in Gibraltar via private plane, under a European Arrest Warrant. Officers of the RGP’s Safeguarding Unit transported Ms Boege to New Mole House, where she was placed in cells pending her appearance at the Magistrates’ Court this morning. Ms Boege was arrested by German authorities following a warrant that was issued by the Gibraltar Courts, for the offence of child abduction, contrary to Section 184(1) of the Crimes Act 2011.
Ms Boege was detained by the German authorities in May of this year and the child taken into care where he was reported to be safe and well. The extradition was unsuccessfully contested by Ms Boege.
