Nov 27 - RGP Warns Public on Banking Scam
The Royal Gibraltar Police has received several reports from persons who have either been telephoned or received e-mails purporting to be from a bank seeking to verify details relating to their bank accounts.
Those targeted via e-mail, have been provided with a link to a web page for telephone banking where persons are asked to confirm all their details, this includes debit card numbers, expiry dates, pin numbers, security questions and all personal details. Similarly persons have reported receiving calls from a UK telephone number where the caller again purports to be a bank employee seeking to confirm personal details.
The RGP warns that no bank or credit card company will request such level of detail from their customers either online or over the telephone and therefore members of the public are urged to disregard any such contact.
