Nov 28 - Customs Officers Pelted With Stones Over Frontier Fence
Officers of HM Customs on duty at Eastern Beach came under attack by a group of men from the Spanish beach north of the frontier fence at 15:00 today. The group attempted to enter Gibraltar unlawfully but were deterred by the number of HM Customs Officers who responded to the situation from several out-stations.
The group of men then began to throw stones and other missiles over the frontier fence at the customs officers; fortunately, nobody was injured in this incident.
The HM Customs presence forms part of the multi-service operation to deter illicit activity and anti-social behaviour at entry and exit points. The Royal Gibraltar Police and Gibraltar Defence Police are also engaged in this operation.
