Dec 06 - Customs Officers Under Attack Yet Again At Eastern Beach
Yesterday evening, officers of HM Customs came under attack by a group of men from the Spanish side of Eastern Beach.
The men were seen attempting to climb the fence to make unlawful entry to Gibraltar but were deterred when a number of Customs officers responded.
The group retreated some meters from the fence and then began to throw stones and other missiles at the officers; fortunately, nobody was injured in this incident.
The HM Customs presence forms part of the multi-service operation to deter illicit activity and anti-social behavior at entry and exit points. The Royal Gibraltar Police and Gibraltar Defence Police are also engaged in this operation.
