Dec 17 Crime Prevention Advice

Crime Prevention Advice The Royal Gibraltar Police would like to remind the public of some crime prevention advice. The next few days leading up to and including the festive period will see a significant proportion of the community out shopping and celebrating Christmas and the New Year with family and friends.

The public are reminded that purses and handbags should be closed, kept in sight and firmly secured. Wallets should be kept in front pockets rather than rear pockets and mobile phones should be out of sight and secured if possible. When out socialising or celebrating again ensure that personal property is secured and kept in view at all times.

For those fortunate to receive high value goods as presents consider refraining from advertising the fact through social media to avoid attracting potential thieves.

Recording the serial numbers of electronic equipment will assist identification in the event that the item is stolen and recovered. Similarly bicycles can be photographed or marked with a personal code. The RGP’s Crime Prevention and Reduction Unit can provide this service for bicycle owners if required.
