Jan 06 - Eastern Beach Cigarette Seizure
Two men were challenged by officers of HM Customs on Friday evening after being seen north of Eastern Beach. They were seen carrying black holdall and began running north towards the frontier fence. Officers gave chase and retrieved the two bags; the two men made good their escape empty-handed into Spain.
A search of the bags found them to contain 11,000 cigarettes (55 cartons) which were seized by HM Customs.
An investigation into the incident continues.
