Feb 20 - 16-Year Old Local Arrested By Customs For Cannabis Importation
HM Customs have arrested a 16 year old local youth who was found in possession of 23g of cannabis resin and 3g of herbal cannabis as he entered Gibraltar via the Land Frontier from Spain. The youth appeared in the juvenile court on Monday where he pleaded guilty and has been bailed to re-appear on Feb 28th.
In a series of unrelated incidents, Customs have also seized 48,400 cigarettes (242 cartons) and four vehicles anti-smuggling operations over the past week.
Customs responded to a number of incidents at Bayside Road, Western Beach, Winston Churchill Avenue and Laguna Estate; Western Beach, Winston Churchill Avenue and Laguna Estate are demarcated S11 Special Zones under the provisions of the Tobacco Act. A small quantity of cannabis resin was found during the course of searches related to the cigarette seizures.
