May 15 - Local Fined for Tobacco Offences
A 33 year old local man has appeared yesterday at the Magistrates Court on tobacco charges.
Dylan Otton of Anderson House was arrested on the 2nd April 2014 by RGP officers at Corral Road when the officers, who were attending a traffic accident Otton had been involved in, observed a number of boxes of tobacco in his motor car.
A full search of the vehicle revealed he was transporting 50,000 cigarettes.
Otton was charged with the transportation of a commercial quantity of cigarettes and possession of a commercial quantity of cigarettes Otton pleaded guilty to the charges and was fined £5,200.00. The vehicle he had used in the transportation of the cigarettes was forfeited.
