Jul 11 - Four Spanish Nationals Arrested After Firearm Incident In Upper Rock
Following reports of a person discharging a firearm from a vehicle at Europa Road near the entrance to the Upper Rock Nature Reserve the RGP mounted an operation yesterday afternoon.
A number of officers, including armed officers, were deployed to the area of the Upper Rock.
The vehicle involved was located and four persons seen approaching the vehicle were challenged and detained.
A search of the vehicle revealed a pump action BB gun, this being a prohibited weapon. A further search of the vehicle also revealed an amount of fireworks.
The four persons were arrested and taken into police custody. These are:
· J.C.F, aged 20 years, a Spanish national
· C.C.C, aged 18 years, a Spanish national
· I.G.G, aged 19 years, a Spanish national
· J.C.E, aged 20 years, a Spanish national
All four have since been charged with the following offences:
· Importing a Prohibited Import namely 22x Mega Fallera, 10 x TNT and 6 x Super Boom Fireworks.
· Possession of a Prohibited Import namely 22x Mega Fallera, 10 x TNT and 6 x Super Boom Fireworks.
· Possession of a Prohibited weapon, namely a UCE BB Bull Gun.
· Importing a Restricted Import, namely a UCE BB Bull Gun. They have been kept in custody and will be appearing in court this morning.
