Oct 15 - RGP And GDP Sign Memorandum Of Understanding
The Commissioner of Police Edward Yome and the Gibraltar Defence Police’s Chief Officer Rob Allen have today signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between both organisations.
The MoU aims to provide a framework for cooperation between both forces and allows the GDP to exercise police powers outside the MOD estate in specific circumstances by powers conferred by the Commissioner of Police under the Police Act 2006.
This MoU will also ensure that an effective exchange of information takes place in order to assist in protecting Gibraltar, its community and the MOD.
On the part of the RGP, the signing of the MoU is a further step towards achieving one of the objectives set by the Gibraltar Police Authority in its policing plan: “continue to establish effective links with partner agencies and others, putting in place MoUs where appropriate.”
Both Mr Yome and Mr Allen have expressed their satisfaction in having signed such an important document that will place both organisations in good stead for the future.
