Nov 18 - RGP Dog Section Training
As part of the continuing development of the Royal Gibraltar Police Dog Section, Sergeants Finlayson and Pisarello have recently attended and successfully completed a five week Explosive Dog Detection course with the South Yorkshire Police. The handlers and both dogs are now fully licensed and will immediately become operational.
The officers are now back on the Rock with the two new additions to the RGP Dog Section. ‘Spencer’ is a 26 month old Labrador and he is handled by PS Finlayson and ‘Bella’ is a 17 month old Labrador cross, her handler is PS Pisarello.
The dogs are trained to detect a number of different explosives ranging from those regularly used by the military to organic and potentially homemade explosives.
