Jan 21 - On The Run Heroin Dealer Was In Gibraltar For Eight Years

A heroin dealer wanted by police in Northampton was living a life of crime in Gibraltar before finally being arrested as he returned to the UK in December last year.

Paul McGuigan, 36, was caught selling ‘medical heroin’ (diamorphine) on the streets of Northampton during a 2006 police operation. However, because he fled to Gibraltar shortly after his arrest, McGuigan was never charged.

Once in Gibraltar, McGuigan continued to commit crimes in order to fund his drug habit. He was convicted of several burglaries and served time in Windmill Hill Prison.

McGuigan was arrested at Gatwick airport on December 4th last year just after he stepped off the plane from Gibraltar.

After appearing at Northampton Crown Court yesterday, McGuigan was remanded in custody until his sentencing hearing on February 17.
