Mar 19 - HM Customs Seize 408 Cartons Of Cigarettes
HM Customs have arrested ten Spanish Nationals for being in possession of 108 cartons of cigarettes. The incident took place yesterday around Winston Churchill Avenue within an area demarcated as a Special Zone under the Tobacco Act. All those involved were arrested and have been released on bail. Their two vehicles were also seized.
During a Customs operation on Thursday morning, the HM Customs Flexible Anti- Smuggling Team seized a total of 300 cartons and a local vehicle. The incident took place at 0530 hrs at Emerson’s Place. A Spanish national and a Portuguese national have been arrested and released on bail until May. Both individuals are assisting HM Customs with enquiries. The value of the cigarettes seized is £5,000.
